August 24th: Shelton makes quick work of a garage fire on Bunker Hill Circle.

August 4th: Oxford responds to a truck fire on Carriage Drive. Turned out to be an AT&T truck on fire. Photos by Scott Pelletier.

August 2nd: Fire breaks out at a strip mall in Milford. A barber shop and adult video store were destroyed in the blaze. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

July 29th: Structure fire at 400 Newhall Street in Hamden. Photos provided courtesy of Daryl Osiecki. Thanks for the contribution...it is appreciated.

July 29th: The OFD responded to a two car accident on Oxford Road. Extrication was required and it took firefighters 25 minutes to extricate the driver of the Honda Pilot. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. Photos by Scott Pelletier.

June 8th: Shelton responds to a car fire in an attached garage on Easton Court. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

 

May 14th: A vehicle traveling north on Route 67 lost control and hit a telephone pole knocking out power and then landing in the Little River.

Firefighter's used the Hurst tool to remove the driver side door and then removed the driver. They used the stokes basket to get the driver out of the river and to Oxford ambulance. Firefighter's put booms in to the river to catch any fluid's that may leak. While at the scene a police car over heated and had to be towed from the scene. CL&P was called to the scene to restore power to the area. Photos by Scott Pelletier.

 

May 9th: New Haven responds to a two alarm fire on Ellsworth Avenue. Photos by Tom Lenart Jr.

 

May 6th: The Oxford Fire Dept responded to a reported structure fire on Moose Hill Road. First arriving units found the home to already be well involved. Firefighters attempted an interior attack, but the fire already had a head start on them. Firefighters withdrew and within two minutes the roof collapsed. Photos provided by Scott Pelletier.

 

April 19th: Fire in a 3-story apartment building on Arctic Street displaces 23 residents. The fire broke out shortly after 5:30 AM and was originally spotted by the Bridgeport Police. All of the residents in the six-family home escaped uninjured. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

 

April 15th: Fire breaks out in an apartment building at approximately 2:30 AM. The resident was cooking pierogies when a grease fire started. He attempted to extinguish the fire with water and that caused the fire to spread. All residents of the apartment escaped safely. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

 

April 11th: Derby responds to a structure fire on Olivia Street. First arriving units found a working fire with multiple levels going. Shelton and Ansonia were called in on mutual aid. Photos contributed.

April 9th: Shortly after 4:00 PM Shelton responded to a structure fire in an apartment on Maltby Street. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be doing fine now. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

 

March 31st: Seymour battles an early morning fire on Smith Street. Oxford and Beacon Falls provided mutual aid. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

 

March 25th: Bridgeport responds to a two-alarm structure fire at the old Davidson's Fabric warehouse. The fire originated in the basement of this vacant building and was difficult to extinguish because the warehouse remains packed with materials. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

 

 

March 18th: New Haven battles a structure fire on Newhall Street. Photos by Tom Lenart Jr.

 

March 17th: Oxford Fire was dispatched for a one car vs. telephone pole. Units on scene found one car in a ditch, resting in the upright position, with wires a poles down blocking the road. One person was checked out by Oxford Ambulance and transported to a local hospital. The road was closed for several hours due while CL&P repaired the poles. The D.O.T. placed detour signs on Route 67 so traffic could bypass the incident.

 

March 15th: Oxford Fire and Ambulance are dispatched to Oxford Airport for the report of a plane experiencing landing gear problems. The plane landed and firefighters  from Oxford and the State were assisted by the Sikorsky Fire Dept., who was on scene for the test of a Sikorsky helicopter. The aircraft was removed from the runway, the FAA was notified and the runway was re-opened. Photos by Scott Pelletier.

Oxford Fire Department recently held Ice Rescue training classes. There was class room work followed by a practical class. Firefighters used the Mustang ice rescue suits and the MARSARS rescue sled. Photos contributed by Scott Pelletier.

 

January 22nd: Bridgeport responds to a structure fire on Fairfield Avenue. One resident of the rooming house perished in the fire. Photos by Anthony DeLucia.

January 12th: Oxford responds to a truck fire following the snowstorm that dumped two feet of snow on the region. The driver was plowing snow and ended up stuck in a snow bank when the fire started. Photos by Scott Pelletier.
